“Take care that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray.” (Matt. 24, 5).

It is time to unmask the many false prophets that have been covering the globe ever since the false Council of Vatican II. Indeed, on this point, Our Lord has warned the people of our times against the many deceitful usurpers of authority who will appear near the end of time. We often fail to recognize them because they are from our own families, from our own churches and from our own selves. Among these, the most dangerous is the deceit coming from ourselves.

It is the most dangerous because, being a part of ourselves, deception does not readily appear as deception. St. Augustine pointed out that no one is deceived unless he first deceives himself. This is the grand delusion; this is the common sin of all those who clothe their secret pride with the praiseworthy exterior symbols of religion, and in place of phylacteries they love to wear the costly vestments of the sanctuary. These are the hypocrites who “devour the houses of widows, praying long prayers.” (Matt. 23, 14).

And who are these false teachers who are a plague upon the unwary? Is it possible to point them out, and is it right to do so? Our Lord warned against them by giving them uncomfortable and painfully accurate labels: “Wolves in sheep’s clothing” is what Our Lord called them.

How can we protect ourselves and those entrusted to us by the Holy Ghost? Holy Mother, the Church, speaking through the voice of authority of Her ministers warns those who see themselves as faithful Catholics against the many false teachers that have been spawned by the organized rebellion of Vatican II.

One would think that it would be enough to deal with the most obvious false teachers abounding in the Modernist Apostate Church.

As tragic as this may be in view of the fact that the greatest majority of once-Catholics have abdicated their faith yet somehow delude themselves into believing they are still Catholic, there is an even more virulent form of apostasy that hides behind the veil of orthodoxy.

These are the “Traditionalists.” They are less easy to detect because they invariably peddle the “Tridentine Mass” and in the imagination of the uninformed that alone seems to constitute a kind of “orthodox” Catholicism.

Their slogan has been “It’s the Mass that matters!” Not to be outdone are those who have made the Mother of God their fetish to the point that nothing is more important than a tiny segment of the Fatima message. And what about the basic doctrines of the Church? These do not seem to be of any importance. If one were to point out to these individuals that their “leaders” are not even valid priests, they do not seem disturbed by such a statement. There is not even a spark of serious thought to even question the matter. This is fanaticism at its worst. And, what is “fanaticism” if not unreasoned enthusiasm?

There is so much unreasoned enthusiasm in the world today that one is at a loss to find reasoning people anymore. All across the board, there is only subjectivism. That is to say, if YOU believe something to be true, it is true for YOU. And if YOU decide YOU do not wish something to be true – even if it is independently true of one’s own thinking – the idea is simply dismissed as a “doubt.” Or, failing this, these truths are totally rejected.

Errors did not just explode with the false Second Vatican Council. On the contrary, they seem to have received approval from the highest authority in the Mystical Body of Jesus Christ, a man perceived to be the Vicar of Jesus Christ.

If Pope St. Pius X expressed his sorrow at the conditions in the Church of his day by being morally forced to condemn Modernism, if similar efforts on the part of Pope Pius XII were unable to stem the onrush of religious anarchy that culminated in religious indifference, what can we who hold fast to all the teachings of the Church expect?

The true Catholic can expect much suffering and pain. But Our Lord told us these things would happen. The Holy Ghost speaking through St.Paul warned us of these things (See:II Epistle of St. Paul to the Thessalonians). And now that all these events have come to pass and we are at that critical junction, it seems that demonic disorientation holds sway over the majority of those who have abandoned the Apostate Church and have found themselves the easy prey of wolves.

In 1950, Pope Pius XII issued an Encyclical Letter Humani generis in which he outlines what he states are “Some False Opinions Which Threaten To Undermine Catholic Doctrine.”

On the very first page, His Holiness paints a grim picture of the reality of our days:

“Disagreement and error among men on moral and religious matters have always been a cause of profound sorrow to all good men, but above all to the true and loyal sons of the Church, especially today, when we see the principles of Christian culture being attacked on all sides.

It is not surprising that such discord and error should always have existed outside the fold of Christ. For though, absolutely speaking, human reason by its own natural force and light can arrive at a true and certain knowledge of the one personal God, Who by His providence watches over and governs the world, and also of the natural law, which the Creator has written in our hearts, still there are not a few obstacles to prevent reason from making efficient and fruitful use of its natural ability. The truths that have to do with God and the relations between God and men, completely surpass the sensible order and demand self-surrender and self-abnegation in order to be put into practice and to influence practical life. Now the human intellect, in gaining the knowledge of such truths is hampered both by the activity of the senses and the imagination, and by evil passions arising from original sin.

Hence men easily persuade themselves in such matters that what they do not wish to believe is false or at least doubtful.” (Humani generis, Aug. 12, 1950).

That such a false mentality would pervade the Modernist mentality may be taken for granted. But that it should be found with such scandalous pervasiveness among all those who style themselves “traditionalist Catholics” is even more appalling. Yet, that is the case.

There is no term more apt than “scandalous” for the conduct of so many as shown by the proliferation of mini-sects headed by former Religious and Secular clergy on the one hand, and by self-proclaimed false Religious parading as genuine members of canonically established Orders or Congregations, on the other.

It would seem that all that is needed to present oneself to society as a member of a Religious Congregation is two things: One, the ability to have someone make a Religious costume as worn by approved Religious and secondly, the unabashed and shameless gall of preying on the religious sentiments of unsuspecting people.

Between heresy and schism, there must be a valid representation of the true Mystical Body of Jesus Christ. That visible valid representation of the Mystical Body of Jesus Christ would consist of valid Roman Catholic bishops, priests and laity.

The most glaring of these false teachers are to be found in the likes of the deceitful establishment of what is popularly perceived to be the “Society of St. Pius X” – an organization started by the retired Marcel Lefebvre whose ordination to the priesthood and subsequent consecration have been under a cloud of doubt. This organization was sufficiently studied and exposed in previous issues of The Seraph.

Notwithstanding the evidence, the members of this non-Catholic organization flaunt their seeming “power” based not on theological and canonical grounds, but on sheer deceit. Like the “power” of the Devil, the success of both is based on the acceptance of the lie. Like the naked emperor and his new “clothes,” the only ones to see the reality are the humble of heart, like the innocent child who said to his mother: “But the emperor is naked!”

Yes, child, the emperor is naked; but the blind adults refuse to admit what they see.

What kind of example of “loyalty” do the members of the Lefebvrite Sect show their “Holy Father”? It is all lip-service designed to deceive the people. When their leader, Lefebvre, attempted to “consecrate” some of the members of his sect and was subsequently excommunicated by his “Pope,” neither he nor his followers took serious note of the fact. Recently, however, one of the “bishops” was negotiating with the anti-pope, Ratzinger, to have the excommunication lifted.

Observe the lack of any kind of logic: These people publicly insisted that the excommunication hurled at them by their accepted “pope” – John Paul II – was not valid and acted accordingly. Now, these same people have been “negotiating” with another anti-pope to have the “invalid excommunication” lifted!

Of course, the devil is never consistent. How could his duped followers be expected to be consistent? If they claim not to have been legitimately excommunicated, then why should they now negotiate to have their “non-excommunication” lifted? If they are with their pope, why do they not obey him? Why do they not obey their pope’s bishops? When they were embezzling funds destined by well-meaning supporters of Lefebvre into their own secret bank accounts, why did the “Catholics” among them not protest? Instead, they simply followed their leader, Mr. Clarence Kelly alias “Father Kelly” and later “Bishop Kelly” into what might humorously be called a “half-pint” crew significantly calling themselves “The Society of St. Pius V” – from Pius X to Pius V! From ten to five…

In all honesty, it must be said that some of Lefebvre’s followers did protest. They even had the author of this article carry letters to Marcel Lefebvre when he was visiting St. Mary’s, Kansas. Hardly anyone remembers the scandalous lawsuits between Lefebvre and his “trusted” representative in the Northeast, Clarence Kelly. Can this truly be the work of the Holy Ghost for the honor and glory of the Catholic Church and the salvation of souls?

I think not.

I think it is nothing more than the work of that proud spirit that was cast out of Heaven for defiant disobedience. Satan was able to drag a goodly number of angels with him; the same holds true for false teachers. These appeal to fallen nature that is always ready to rise up against true authority in order to fulfill the eternally damning mind-set: Non serviam!...I will not obey!

And so, we can spend hours of our precious time sadly observing the number of souls being led away by these servants of Satan disguised as clergymen.

It was not long before the break-away bunch found ways to become “bishops” and thus to continue an entire line of mini-sects that began to multiply. Like the true Protestants that they became, they all recognize each other politely while being united only in one thing: To resist the legitimate authority vested in true Bishops.

It is true that some of these Lefebvrites maintain that the last true Pope was Pope St. Pius X. Obviously, they do not see their folly: If Pope St. Pius X was the last true Pope, then how could they reject Pope Pius XII who canonized Pius X? Either Pius X was validly canonized or he was not. If he was validly canonized, then the Pope who canonized him had to be a true Pope, namely, Pius XII.

It would appear that even Marcel Lefebvre’s “orthodoxy” could be questioned in light of his deceitful actions whereby he flagrantly ignored the bishops in whose territory he allowed his “priests” to function. If he was the great defender of orthodoxy, he certainly paid no heed to the Encyclical of Pope Leo XIII to the French Bishops in 1884: “Let the authority of the Bishops be sacred to the priests, and let priests understand well that the sacerdotal ministry, if it be not exercised under the direction of the Bishops, will be neither holy, nor wholly useful, nor respected. Consequently, the elite among the laity who love the Church, our common Mother, and who, by their words and writings, can bring a useful support to the rights of the Catholic religion, must multiply their labors for her defense.

Let their rule of conduct be to submit themselves with filial piety to the Bishops whom the Holy Spirit has established to rule the Church of God; let them respect their authority, let them undertake nothing without their leave, for in combats in defense of religion, it is the leaders who must be followed.” (Encycl. Nobilissima Gallorum gens, Feb. 8, 1884).

The record for the activities of this Sect established by Marcel Lefebvre is one of arrogance and haughtiness – marks of the Beast and not of the humility and meekness of Jesus Christ.

The members of this Sect point to the many places where they have chapels and churches and schools. They vainly flatter themselves because the press gives them much coverage – especially when they can be used to further vilify and belittle the Catholic Church as perceived by the world.

To them may well be applied (as to all the rest) the words of Our Lord:

“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord’, shall enter the kingdom of heaven; but he who does the will of my Father in heaven shall enter the kingdom of heaven. Many will say to me in that day: ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in thy name, and cast out devils in thy name, and work many miracles in thy name?’ And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you. Depart from me, you workers of iniquity. (Matt. 7, 21-23).

Does this sound like a blessing from Our Lord upon the human work of these false teachers?

Judging by the numbers supplied by the leaders of this Sect, they appear to be very numerous. But we must never lose sight of the fact that numbers have value only for Satan; God is interested in quality. Or, as a zealous Franciscan professor once said to his class: “One drop of holiness is worth more in the eyes of God than an ocean of tepidity.”

Those who obstinately follow the Lefebvre Sect will find themselves among the goats on Judgment Day unless they humbly repent and return to the true Church.

“Take care that no one leads you astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am the Christ,’ and they will lead many astray.” (Matt. 24, 5).

Again, the Scriptures remind us: “For false christs and false prophets false will arise, and will show great signs and wonders, so as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.” (Ibid. 24, 24).

We ask: Who in our day appear to be perfectly Catholic on the outside, but are filled with dead men’s bones on the inside? Who can possibly fit the description of the false prophets able to deceive many, yet, will not deceive the elect? Who, then, might be the “elect”?

Many are deceived by the outer appearances of the Lefebvre Sect. So much so, that they fancy themselves the Church and while paying superficial homage to an anti-pope whom they privately know to be false as they themselves are, they gather around themselves followers as faithless as the Modernists whom they seemingly condemn.

One might rightly ask of them: Who is your bishop? They have rejected the true bishops given to the remnant Church by the Holy Ghost and continue in their schism until, like their invalid priestly Orders, Lefebvre was forced to attempt consecrations of his own non-priests.

Here is the perfect demonic scheme to swallow up for Satan thousands of foolish souls. It is not only the followers of the Judaic Heresy who have rejected Jesus Christ, but in an even more subtle way the false prophets and false priests of Lefebvre have done likewise with one important difference: The false prophets of Lefebvre mimic the true Church to a superlative degree.

To them may well be applied the words of the prophet Isaias: “Lord, who has believed our report, and to whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?” St. John says this is the reason why they could not believe and again quotes from Isaias: “He has blinded their eyes, and hardened their hearts: Lest they see with their eyes, and understand with their mind, and be converted, and I heal them.”

St. John explains why Isaias said these things;: “Isaias said these things when he saw his glory and spoke of him. And yet, even among the rulers, many believed in him; but because of the Pharisees they did not acknowledge it, lest they should be put out of the synagogue. For they loved the glory of men more than the glory of God. But Jesus cried out, and said, ‘He who believes in me, believes not in me but in him who sent me. And he who sees me, sees him who sent me. I have come a light into the world, that whosoever believes in me may not remain in the darkness. And if anyone hear my words, and do not keep them, it is not I who judge him; for I have not come to judge the world, but to save the world.

He who rejects me, and does not accept my words, has one to condemn him. The word that I have spoken will condemn him on the last day.

For I have not spoken on my own authority, but he who sent me, the Father, has given me commandment what I should say, and what I should declare. And I know that his commandment is everlasting life. The things, therefore, that I speak, I speak as the Father has bidden me.” (John, 12, 37-50).

These men have given themselves fancy titles that only have validity and dignity in those Con-gregations and Societies inspired by the Holy Ghost and confirmed as such by a visible, valid authority of the Roman Catholic Church. In their consummate pride, they have rejected that visible authority vested in the person of the man chosen by this same Holy Ghost through the instrumentality of three genuine Bishops.

The blind followers of this Lefebvrite Sect did and do everything to keep people away from their true shepherds. And, like the wolves in sheep’s clothing that they are, they require endless pomp and ceremony to maintain the superficial window dressing that is the cloth of their deception.
We are living in the times of the Great Apostasy; the times when the words of Our Lord ring painfully true; “Think ye, when the Son of Man shall return, will He find faith on this earth?”

Furthermore, following the deceitful and deliberately vague leader whose actions proved the lie of his lips that whatever these individuals do in the name of the Roman Catholic Church is nothing more than an odious masquerade that mocks the truth and goodness of God.

This is but one example of the demonic disorientation so evident among those who would still wish to be Catholic.
